Medical dissertation

Medical dissertation is a job written by applicants for the positions of candidate or doctor of science in the field of health care.

Theses in medical specialties have the following sections:

  • Title section.
  • Abbreviations
  • Introduction

The first chapter – usually includes a review of literary sources.

The second chapter includes the characteristics of clinical observations and research methods.

Research author – consists of several chapters.

Conclusion

Findings.

Recommendations for implementation in practice.

Bibliography.

The title section contains the name of the educational institution and affiliation with the Ministry of Health, the data of the applicant and the head, the dissertation topic, specialty, indication of the degree to which the applicant is applying.

The list of abbreviations involves decoding abbreviations that are used in medical professions. Moreover, generally accepted abbreviations can be ignored, the abbreviations used in the text, which have not been encountered anywhere else, are subject to decoding. If the volume of a medical thesis is impressive, then it may be uncomfortable to read abbreviations, so it is recommended to keep it to a minimum.

The introduction is an important section of the thesis, which consists of several subsections:

Relevance – involves the characterization of the state of the problem. Consideration of publications in recent years should give reason to believe that the problem has not been studied enough, or there are conflicting data.

Purpose. Bearing in mind that clinical work has an applied character, the goal may be to improve the diagnosis, to develop methods for treating the pathological process.

Tasks – are formulated depending on the goal. In addition, the purpose of the study entails the definition of the object of study, that is, the type of disease, injury, then when setting goals, you should focus on the object of study, that is, aspects of pathology. However, care should be taken when formulating tasks for clinical specialties. If we proceed from the goal “to improve the results of diagnostics”, then the tasks in this case are not limited to a set of indicators, but should be linked to the goal of the thesis. Therefore, the statement of the problem in this case will sound like “develop an algorithm of therapy based on the study of dynamics …”. The use of the expressions “examine”, “consider” is not appropriate for the task, because it is important to get a solution, and “consideration” does not imply any action.

Scientific novelty – involves the description of the main achievements in the studied area. However, not all the provisions meet this criterion, since the value of the work may be behind the process of improvement, the development of existing provisions.

Practical value – justifies the effect of the results obtained in clinical practice.

Implementation – indicates the medical institutions in which the author’s developments have been used for over half a year. Information must necessarily be confirmed by certificates of implementation, which are issued by this medical institution. Approve the certificate must supervisor. The certificate is signed by practitioners and approved by the head of the institution.

Personal contribution – characterizes the contribution of the author of the dissertation to clinical studies. This may include: collecting literature, choosing a research method, participating in surgical interventions, participating in a survey.

Provisions for the protection of the author

Approbation – contains information about published scientific materials.

The first chapter contains an analytical review of the material containing the problem under consideration, identifies unresolved areas and identifies tasks that need to be addressed in the thesis.

The second chapter gives an idea of the scientific findings and methodological level. It is purely experimental. Clinical observations are presented in tabular form.

The main section of the medical thesis is its own research. Consists of several chapters that contain information about solving the tasks set in the introduction.

In conclusion, the obtained results are discussed as a whole and the differences from other works are determined.
